Today (22 Sep 2024), in the case of a fire at a plastic and chemical factory in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, at 12.30 p.m., a large amount of white and black smoke was found billowing over a wide area and blowing towards Map Ta Phut Market, Ban Plong Community, and the Islamic Community. Later, the Facebook page Sonti Kotchawat, an expert in environment and health, Thai Environmental Academics Association, posted details about the toxic substances from the smoke, stating that it is a carcinogen, and recommending that people quickly evacuate the area at least 3 km away.
